Department of Physiology & Bio-Chemistry
About the Department
The branch of biology that deals with the normal functions of living organisms and their parts. It is a sub-section of biology, covering a range of topics that include organs, anatomy, cells, biological compounds, and how they all interact to make life possible. It provides a thorough understanding of normal body function, enabling more effective treatment of abnormal or disease states.
Medical biochemistry, as a subject, incorporates the study of biology and chemistry of functioning of human life. Knowledge of Biochemistry is vital to the understanding of Physiology of life. The curriculum integrates the detailed structure and functions of Protein, Fats, Carbohydrates, Nucleic Acids, Enzyme Reaction mechanisms, Nucleic acids replication and re combination, Membrane trafficking, Biochemistry of Bacterial and animal viruses etc.
The Department of Physiology and Bio-chemistry aims at providing students in-depth knowledge of human physiology through class room teaching and direct observation in specialized labs for haematology, clinical physiology and human experiments.
PHYSIOLOGY IN HOMOEOPATHY
The Importance of Physiology in Homoeopathy mainly revolves around the concept of Homeostasis i:e, the tendency towards a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes. Students acquiring knowledge regarding normal equilibrium state of healthy individual, with normal standards of reference can diagnose and treating deviations from the normal.
To a homoeopath the human organism is an integrated whole of body, life and mind; and though life includes all the chemico-physical process it transcends them. Physiology shall be taught from the stand point of description physical processes underlying them in health.
DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
- The department of Physiology and Biochemistry consists of experienced faculty with supportive staff and good infrastructure facility.
- Department also has a library facility that is easily accessible to all the residents and faculty. It is fully equipped with all the recent as well as old edition of books, journals and bulletins pertaining to Physiology & Bio-chemistry..
- The students are exposed to the lectures with audiovisual presentation and black board presentation.
- Students are assessed by formative and summative examination regularly.
- The faculty of the department is involved in developing individual skills of students and helping them in achieving their academic goals.
Our department is conducting joint courses along with anatomy department for better understanding of human structure and physiological function of all systems
We are regularly conducting seminar lectures to make students well versed with the physiology subject and also to co-relate with homoeopathy.
