About the Department
Medicolegal examination is the statuary duty of every registered medical practitioner whether he is in private practice or engaged in government sector and in the present scenario of growing consumerism in medical practice, the teaching of forensic medicine and toxicology to the students is highly essential.
Here we provide basic knowledge about various forensic medicine topics and toxicology. Theory and practical classes are conducted regularly to impress the importance of the subject. Learning is made interesting by incorporating audiovisual aids in teaching. Topics are brought to life by projecting them on screen using modern technology and by using conventional method of black board teaching. Departmental library holds a treasure of various books on the subject by various authors. Special care is taken to improve the academic performance of students by conducting regular exams, seminars and interactive sessions.
We have a rich collection of demonstrative charts, photographs, x-ray films of medicolegal importance, forensic models, weapons etc. Students can also get well acquainted with toxicology through the large number of toxicology related specimens which we showcase. Students are taken to noted government hospitals to have an experience of autopsy. This is judiciously followed every year and is also the most awaited time for the students.
The motto of including forensic medicine and toxicology as a subject for homeo students is to help them understand the intricate relation between medicine and law, while keeping the essence of the subject intact.
